Jun 21, 2018 winsows 8: how to make adobe pdf file open in desktop mode instead of opening the media screen? I need to have two files open at the same time within the same desktop screen session. Using windows 8 for the first time, is there a way to do this, I looked at some file settings. I cannot open e-mail attachments through Adobe Reader 9. When I download the attachments and try to open them, an installation of the Adobe Reader program begins. I allowed it to continue, to see what would occur, and it stops at about 99% completion, stating that I already have the program downloaded.

PDF documents can be opened directly in Internet Explorer by clicking on a PDF link. However, in a business environment it is beneficial to open a PDF in Adobe Reader or Acrobat to take advantage of features that are not available in the Adobe PDF Reader add-on for Internet Explorer. The ability to access a PDF file's security options is an example of a feature necessary to view, review and/or send a business PDF document that is not available in the add-on. Use the Manage Add-ons utility in Internet Explorer to stop PDF files from automatically opening in the browser.
1.Start Internet Explorer and click the 'Tools' gear icon to open the Tools drop-down list.
2.Click 'Manage Add-ons' from the list to open the Manage Add-ons window.
3.Click 'Toolbars and Extensions' in the Add-on Types box and then click the 'Show' drop-down box to reveal the list of options.
4.Select 'All Add-ons' to display the list of add-ons in Internet Explorer. Scroll down the list until you find 'Adobe PDF Reader.'
5.![Adobe Adobe](/uploads/1/2/5/7/125723351/353235999.png)
Click 'Adobe PDF Reader' and then click the 'Disable' button.
